Site Update: October 1, 2008

Hi all,

I just want to give everyone a site update. Firstly, TinyTube is NOT dead. We had some hardware failures here and are currently working to get everything back online. Hopefully things will be working again by tomorrow night. Secondly, I know lots of people have been complaining about broken videos and things like that. As I mentioned last time, we are currently working on lots of things to improve transcode reliability. I am hoping to have this code rolled out soon along with some other site updates (including better and more reliable updating of video records from upstream). Please understand, however, that TinyTube currently consists of 1 developer/admin that also works another job to pay the bills.

Thanks for bearing with us. I will do my best to keep the site and all of the users up to date.

  6. thanks for the status update. i personally have found tinytube very useful and thank you for one stop access to - final minute scoring, presidential speeches, kids hitting their dads in the groin with a baseball bat - and yes, the occasional busty cam girl.

  34. The only vids I’ve found to be unavailable are xtubes, any other queued vid has worked for me. Maybe some of you need to learn how to use your phones, research what the meaning of queue means or find another free site that offers a service like this one. And for those who don’t know, when on the queue screen, keep refreshing the page and it’ll show you the queue reducing and the time to wait for your vid.

If u try to make a download out of a xtube video url, they will definitely give you a download link. But when you execute the url, there’s no download. Because xtube made a new url for their videos to avoid hacking their videos…

  156. I really wonder why? Why would there be no response from those running this site. It would seem to me that even the slightest word or acknowledgement to the users of this site would put us a bit more at ease. I would much prefer to be told that it will take several months to fix the issues then to sit and stew in the wonder of it all. They can tell me that they just can’t fix it or don’t know how to, that’s fine in a sense. But this waiting in expectation only leads to unrest and anger. Just my two cents worth
